If you only read one thing this week, make it this. The biggest stuff happening across town this week:

Aviator gave Fuquay a fresh look at its planned C-54 Airplane Bar this week, posting a detailed overhead rendering with a blunt update: “Airplane bar plans almost done!” The proposal is for a 2,425-square-foot cocktail bar and patio on Brewing Drive, with the airplane hull incorporated into the bar itself.

The plans may be nearing completion, but the bar is not. The Town still lists the project as under review, and Aviator has not published an opening date, construction schedule, hours or menu. For now, the news is that a long-teased idea has a fresh design and appears to be moving forward. There are easier ways to open a cocktail bar, but none involve deciding how to fit the bar around an airplane fuselage.

Track Record is marking Mexican Independence Day with three hours of Mexican music on vinyl. Kristen is handling both the bar and the turntables, with the shop inviting people to listen, dance and raise a glass while the records spin.

This is a vinyl night, not a live-band performance, which makes it a looser Saturday stop. Come early to browse the new and used records, grab a drink and settle into the listening lounge, or arrive later if dancing is the main objective. The timing also leaves a two-hour gap after the International Cultural Festival ends at the Arts Center, so you can do both without spending the afternoon staring at a clock. Fuquay has assembled a surprisingly international Saturday, and nobody had to book a flight.

The Arts Center’s annual cultural festival fills five hours with food, country booths, performances and workshops. The theater schedule opens with Indian dance from Maddie Yelubandi, then moves through appearances by the Polish American Club, Ukrainians in the Carolinas, Triangle Japanese Chorus Club, Raleigh Chinese Language School, Venezuela es Danza and other community groups.

Studio 1 carries its own schedule. Braima Moiwai leads a drum workshop at 12:45 PM, Salsa4Life follows at 1:30, African storytelling starts at 2:15 and the Philippine American Association of North Carolina closes the studio program at 3:00. The posted times are approximate, so this works better as a few-hour visit than a surgical strike for one eight-minute performance. Arrive before 12:45 if you want the strongest stretch of workshops and theater programming together. Admission is free, and food trucks and cultural booths run alongside the schedule.

Sunday lunch spreads across the Downtown Varina lot with Tasty Turkey-Que, Blue Lobster NC, Buoy Bowls, The Rican Lab, Pelican’s SnoBalls, Sunny Sips Lemonade and Sweet Treats of NC. Mason Jar Lager Company and Oaklyn Springs Brewery are handling the beer, while a DJ and kids’ zone cover the non-eating portion of the afternoon.

The touch-a-truck exhibit adds police vehicles, ambulances, fire trucks, garbage trucks and other equipment for a close look. With only three hours on the schedule, noon is the practical arrival time if you want lunch before working through the trucks and dessert. Action Park and Fuquay-Varina High School are both listed as nearby parking options. Accessible spaces will be available in the East Broad Street lot and the adjacent lot by Kimi’s Carpet Plus for vehicles with the required placard or plate.

North Tower takes over Centennial Square Thursday with a mix of Carolina beach music, Motown, Top 40, disco, funk and rock. The band has been performing for more than 40 years, includes a full horn section and counts several members among the Carolina Beach Music Hall of Fame. In other words, this is not three people quietly working through acoustic covers while everybody talks over them.

Admission is free, with local brews and food-truck offerings available during the concert. Bring a chair, but leave the cooler at home. East Academy Street closes between Main Street and South Fuquay Avenue from 4:00-10:30 PM, so getting downtown before the 6:00 PM start should simplify parking. Accessible spaces are available in the Fidelity Bank lot and are first come, first served. Thursday is carrying a surprising amount of this week’s musical weight.
