Happy Friday Fuquay. Memorial Day weekend is here, which means half the town is headed to the beach, the other half is headed to the lake, and the rest of us are happily sticking around with shorter lines for beer.

This week: cars at Aviator, live music all over town, Salamanders baseball, and 52 types of whiskey.

This issue is brought to you by John Wilkerson at CrossCountry Mortgage β€” more on that in a minute.

Summer Car Show at Aviator | Aviator Brewing Company | 8:30AM–1PM

Aviator is hosting a summer car show with around 100 cars competing for trophies across class, fan favorite, and best in show. Browse the cars, grab a beer if the timing feels right, and make a Saturday morning out of it.

DOWNTOWN
The Growers Market is still on spring hours

Fuquay-Varina Growers Market | 121 N. Main St. | 9AM–1PM

Spring hours are still running, so Saturday morning is the move before the heat shows up. Expect produce, baked goods, flowers, and local vendors clustered downtown β€” a solid hour-long stop before whatever else is on the calendar.

🦎 Opening Night for the Salamanders

Holly Springs Salamanders Opening Night vs. Catawba Valley Stars | North Main Athletic Complex Stadium | 6:30PM

The Holly Springs Salamanders open their 2026 Coastal Plain League season Friday night, with Opening Night presented by Kimi’s Carpets Plus and a first-pitch celebration. It is about 15 minutes from downtown Fuquay, which is close enough to count as local when baseball and hot dogs are involved.

THE REST
Honorable mentions for the week

  • ZZ Top & Dwight Yoakam: Dos Amigos Tour | Friday, 7PM: Koka Booth in Cary gets the big-name concert pick of the week, with special guest Wesko. About 30 minutes away, but worth the mention.

  • Tequila Tuesday at Moonlight - Tuesday, from 4 PM. Half off tequila pours under $20 all evening.

  • 80’s Vinyl Night at Track Record Vinyl Shop | Saturday, 6PM–9PM: Break out the denim jackets.

  • TCB Tuesday Run Club & Open Mic | Tuesday: Run first, beer after, music somewhere in between. Very Fuquay in the best way.

  • A Novel Idea Book Club | Wednesday, 11AM–12PM: Adult book discussion at the Fuquay-Varina Community Library.
